BEHIND THE ARTIST
Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, Lucy Sinkkonen is an artist, photographer, and storyteller. A curiosity for spirit of place, diverse cultures, and rooted connections. From a young age, she traveled with her family throughout South America, Canada, and Europe, developing a deep appreciation for the voice of landscapes, communities, and holistic ways of living.
Rooted in Finnish ancestry and a family background in craftsmanship, Lucy developed an early appreciation for making by hand. Through painting, photography, and writing, she explores the relationship between people, landscape, memory, and movement.
Currently traveling throughout the summer—by bike, on foot, trails, gardens, and spontaneous conversations—Lucy draws inspiration from the spirit of place and the stories found along the way. Her work is an ongoing practice of observation, seeking beauty in changing light, natural forms, wildlife, human connection, and everyday experience.
Beyond the studio, Lucy is passionate about healthy living, nutrition, movement, and overall well-being. She believes creativity and wellness are deeply connected and enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking nourishing meals, and encouraging others to slower more intentional lives.
She hopes to replicate feeling within her art. Organic waves of light and shadow inform each application of form, whether through a brushstroke, a photograph, or a written reflection. Through Lucy Sinkkonen Studio, she shares fine art, photography, and visual storytelling inspired by travel, nature, community, and the landscapes we call home.
