The painting begins with a blended pastel base, layered with gesso and acrylics for a light-and-shadow background. Textures form as modeling paste is applied with a palette knife and piping tube, creating intricate, raised details.

Before the fall, the jasmine flowers reach for one another—so close they nearly touch—falling before their embrace.
Jasmine’s long history as a flower of love and aroma, interweaves through stories of devotion and longing. Lately, I’ve been exploring aromatherapy and jasmine’s healing qualities—its ability to calm the nervous system, ease grief and anxiety, and invite softness back into the body.
Here, the waterfall rushes downward, carrying the scent with it—drenching the air, saturating the space, almost overwhelming in its persistence. The jasmine lingers even as it falls.
Love,
Lucy Sinkkonen
